WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM "Two Hunters" (Southern Lord) *BAND OF THE YEAR 2008*
Christophe Szpajdel

The day i was lost in the mighty forests of Cascadia....and i felt so nostalgic that i called the Canonteign Falls "Oregonia Devonica" and i could not stop thinking about the almighty Multnomah falls next to the Canonteign Falls....i got simply subjugated when climbing the hundreds of Victorian steps leading me to Buzzard View. The view was simply breathtaking and Wolves in The Throme room coulkd resound endlessly through my earphones while contemplating the infinite dreary skylines...of Dartmoor....and 8000 thousand miles further, i could guess the conic shape of Mount Hood, Mount St Helens, The Sisters and Mt Bachelor...only 8000 miles from Devon....to Oregon! But did i had the power to open wide my wings and glide....through the ascending streams, like an eagle....Glide towards the land of all my dreams....CASCADIA! Did i feel holed up with Cabin fever while trying to elevate myself in the sky from Buzzard View and glide...."Yea Artio" is simply the musical glorification of that state of levitation and floatation that would lead me adrift to the right promised land....it is like seeing from Dartmoor the endless skylines melted with the horizon of the Atlantic...."Vastness and Sorrow" is a song that plunges the listener into this eerie, grandiose, breathtaking form of black metal, something superior than anything that has been done before....Then "Cleansing" which starts with clear female chants layered on eerie keyboards....slowly but then suddenly, without transition...merges into breathtaking black metal like only WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM is able to perform...able to communicate with the vastness of nature like i do when contemplating the vastness around me while perched drawing logos on Buzzard View...and beneath me...the Canonteign falls...the Chasma....so amazing, so breathtaking....as WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM is....a moment of plenitude and fullfillment....a highlight in 2008 i am thinking about over and over and over.... Than comes the last song, so breathtaking, so intense, so perfect. No one else at my knowledge was able to read my mind with their music....WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM succeeded to talk directly to my soul with such an anthem as "I Will Lay My Bones Among The Rocks and Roots" as that is exactly what i did when contemplating the skylines in Dartmoor....and drawing logos long the slopes...watching the clouds and skylines if they were threatening me with some rain...The plenitude...the warm winter sun....the twisted trees. WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM simply talked directly to my soul, my mind, my ethereal essence....my innerself and i understood the secret, cryptic language they spoke to me in tongues....before we started communicating by e-mail. Clear...Wolves in the Throne Room is like tailored....just for me...and only writing that leads me in a state of emotion,,,,tear roll on my eyes...as WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM made it simply...so perfect! Am i dreaming....or am i simply living a dream in real.....WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM took full possession of my body...and my soul.
